Overview

Contract Data Engineer - Data Intelligence

The primary purpose of this role is to support the reporting and analytics requirements of the business users and customers. This role is fully remote.

Accountabilities and Deliverables

  • Design, develop and maintain SQL Data Extracts for both internal and external customers
  • Design, develop and maintain ETL Packages for the Export, Transform and Load of data into the Data Warehouse using MSSQL, Powershell or C#
  • Design, develop and maintain analytics dashboards using open source technologies
  • Design, develop and maintain analytics and machine learning algorithms
  • SQL Server Database Support (e.g. maintain and evolve live and test data structures and processes)
  • Document and improve Data Intelligence internal processes, standards and work progress as required
  • Liaise with all parts of the business both in gathering requirements and in order to help improve the business as a whole
  • Keep abreast of industry developments in order to monitor and improve service and infrastructure
  • Contribute to Data Intelligence revenue targets
  • Quality is key! Conduct quality reviews of deliverables and take an active involvement in unit testing
  • Mentoring and coaching more junior members of the team, contributing to upskilling and encouraging learning opportunities for colleagues
  • Support strategic move to cloud based technologies

Key relationships

You will work very closely with your delivery team, liaise with your engineering team lead, work closely with other delivery teams and colleagues across the business, and may discuss project matters with clients. Your engineering team lead will meet with you regularly to discuss your personal progress against objectives and development plan.

Required Skills

  • T-SQL
  • Python
  • AWS Data Technologies (Quicksight, Spice, Athena)
  • SSIS
  • Excellent command of English reading, writing and speaking

Desired Skills

  • AWS (or other cloud computing provider)
  • Infra-as-code (Terraform)
  • TeamCity/GoCD/Buildkite

Knowledge and Attributes

Experience of a project through the life cycle of development and into production, developing within an object-oriented development environment, developing service-oriented architectures, developing within an agile project framework, and knowledge of source control, release management, testing and task management within a team environment. Knowledge of Financial Services solutions (Mortgage, Life Insurance, Retirement, Wealth Mgt).
