Waferwire is currently seeking a Data Scientist to join our data science team within the Browser division. In this role, you will focus on analyzing metric data to gain insights into user acquisition, engagement, and retention. Collaborating extensively with various teams, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Browser, which serves billions of users worldwide. Role: Data Scientist

Location: Remote (PST Time)

Job Description:

  • The main functions of this role are to enable the team in understanding the performance of the Edge business metrics, manipulate big data, do exploratory analyses of the data, apply statistical/ML modeling techniques to generate insights and hypotheses, build & maintain reports/dashboards and communicate the outcomes to the LT.

Job responsibilities:

  • Contribute to weekly business metric reporting by analyzing metric movements, communicating status of the metrics clearly and effectively, building/maintaining dashboards etc.
  • Process and analyze big data datasets, usage funnels, long term trends using Statistical, Machine Learning modeling, and Hypothesis driven approach to identify opportunities, patterns, pain points in end user's journey and provide recommendations to the leadership teams to help in driving customer satisfaction, acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Collaborate not only with other Data Scientists, Developers, Product Managers, feature teams within Edge but also with Partner teams like Finance, Business, Marketing teams etc. to help drive the Edge business growth.
  • 50% - data analysis of internal metrics, user behavior, etc using various tools and methods.
  • 40% - data science work building models, testing hypotheses and finding insights using scripting languages and big data infrastructure.
  • 10% - working on business intelligence and reporting using PowerBI and other tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, Economics, or related field
  • 2-4 years of working experience in Business Insights, Data Analytics and Data Science experience
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language & data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar.
  • Experience of working with reporting tool like PowerBI, Excel etc
  • Experience of working with big data platforms like Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Cosmos or equivalent
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated history of success
  • Desire to be working with data and helping businesses make better data driven decisions

Top 3 Skills:

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience with scripting language - SQL, Python, etc.
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience with working with big data - Cosmos, Databricks or equivalent
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience with manipulating data and completing data analysis & reporting
