LOCATION: Sunnyvale, CA

DURATION: 12 Months

PAY RANGE: $69-$74/hr

Job Description

The main function of a hardware engineer is to research, design, develop, test computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. The potential candidate will be more geared towards the technician side of work. The primary area of focus would product assembling.

Responsibilities

  • Support new technology development bring-up. Assemble PCB's, flex's, connectors, modules in their respective form factors such as development platform, product form factor, and prototype.
  • Support assembly, delivery and RMA for dev platform and NTI prototypes.
  • Flash FW and OS images on the devices. Boot the device and verify that SoC and subsystems are functional. Communicate device status and software issues with internal teams for a speedy resolution.
  • Provide basic bench tests to capture common hardware issues on the PCB. Probe signal and power waveforms and find anomalies. Use DMM to measure voltage, current, resistance on the device and its components.
  • Support basic rework and mechanical modifications on the device to enable testing.
  • Use internal tools such as web portals, forms, spreadsheets, work chat, work groups to communicate and organize information. Create clear documentation of lab work and issues uncovered.
  • Be patient and willing to navigate through ambiguities when processes are not clearly defined.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Support engineer experience. Experience in supporting consumer electronic devices is a plus.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, DMM, power supply, solder station.
  • Use laptop and ADB to flash software images on Android devices.
  • Experience with reading schematics and looking at board layout.
  • Software skills such as Unix shell scripting and Python scripting is desirable.
  • BSEE degree

  • Team player and detail oriented.
  • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Basic knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control and operation of telecommunications systems.
  • Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering required.

Good To Have Skills

  • The ability to rework electronics, BGA packages, 5 YRS + - technician.
  • Read schematics and board Client outs.
