Python Support Tools Developer

The CX Automation Development Team at Pure Storage is looking to hire a Python Support Tools Developer in Lehi, Utah or Seattle, WA. The CX Automation Development Team is responsible for developing a significant majority of the triaging tools used by our global Technical Support Engineering staff on a daily basis. We have a reputation for delivering reliable, consistent, and highly performant software solutions. We are also known for having a very short turn-around of solution deliverables. We promote out-of-the-box thinking, and innovation is encouraged and rewarded. Because of our track record, we are regularly brought into brainstorming efforts to help solve engineering challenges across the company. And with all of these attributes, we still require our team members to be approachable, personable, and professional with all who reach out to our team. You must be phsically located in Utah or Washington in order to work onsite three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement creative new algorithms and technologies for high-performance, highly reliable systems (think "six nines")
  • Own and deliver innovation end-to-end, from concept to shipped product
  • Analyze and solve challenging problems through persistence and insight
  • Work as part of a team of intelligent peers who inspire you and who are inspired by you
  • Develop, maintain, and improve creative new systems and diagnostic tools
  • Make smart, educated decisions where automation can improve overall product support efficiencies
  • Maintain effective documentation on existing and future tool sets
  • Thoroughly test tool sets before release to ensure tool accuracy and efficiency
  • Learn a ton, whether you know a lot or nothing about products and software systems

What You’ll Need To Bring To This Role...

  • At least 4-5 years of Python "back-end" experience
  • Designing, implementing, and using efficient REST APIs
  • SQL-based relational database experience in: Postgres, AWS RDS, MySQL or Python modules ("SQLAlchemy", "DB-API", etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of object oriented programming, test driven development, and software development life cycle
  • Experience designing performant and efficient programs for processing large, unstructured data-sets
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Willingness to work in an Agile development environment
  • Willingness and ability to work in an open office, team environment
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple engagements and priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain sight on scope and depth of project initiatives throughout the development life cycle in order to meet project objectives and timelines
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Storage experience is a plus
  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ONSITE 3 DAYS A WEEK!

Additional Qualifications

  • Practical hands-on experience with the following is a plus:
  • Process automation and/or machine learning
  • Cloud infrastructures like AWS
  • DevOps and Pipeline tools such as Docker and Jenkins
  • Web server management: Apache, Nginx, Tornado, WSGI (Gunicorn)
  • JavaScript
  • SAN/NAS STORAGE
  • TCI/IP NETWORKING
  • Linus/Unix Administration

Salary and Benefits

The annual base salary range is: $96,000 - $205,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
