Job Description

This is an Engineering Manager role, focused on a new generation of ops technology, to run a team that works in Python on Kubernetes.

Mission and Goals

  • Reinventing the way people run software on public clouds and data centres.
  • Building a new community around Python opscode for open-source applications running on Kubernetes.
  • Moving all of Canonical and Ubuntu IS onto a new, open-source codebase.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead a team focused on productizing business workloads.
  • Build and manage a regional team of engineers.
  • Develop the team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
  • Demonstrate sound engineering by directly contributing toward team goals.
  • Set reasonable schedules based on considered estimates and manage expectations with engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Advance modern, agile software development practices.
  • Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.

Required Skills

  • Experience in Docker and Kubernetes operations.
  • Software engineering background with proven Python experience.
  • Experience developing Python frameworks with an emphasis on stable APIs.
  • Passion for embracing new technologies and pushing boundaries.
  • Interest in building products that improve software and infrastructure operations globally.
  • Track record of developing and growing people within the organization.
  • Knowledge and passion for software development in an agile environment.
