Job Opportunity: Back-End Python/Django Developer

Your role
In short; we're looking for a backender who can help us improve our platform. After an intense period, where the main goal was to launch as quickly as possible, we are now keen on improving the platform. This applies as much to the UI as it does for anything behind the scenes. We always have to keep an eye on security and reliability due to the amount of money that is processed via the platform, while also keeping an eye on usability and performance, since we receive up to 10k backend requests per minute, a number that keeps going up.
At the moment our focus is on gradually replacing a frontend written in Django by a React-based frontend. This is why the last people to join us in 2022 were both frontenders.
The new frontend will allow us to scale up further. It connects to an API that we are adding to the existing Django project, after which we’ll remove the existing frontend code from the Django project. Meanwhile, we’re writing new functionality in plain Django, which may be moved to React later on. The rewrite also offers us the opportunity to reflect on, and improve, on the current design and usability.
Your activities will consist of
- Working on new features for existing project components
- Being responsible for native Django views (model/view/template) and/or admin
- REST framework endpoints
- Interfacing with existing APIs for payment providers and other 3rd parties
- Writing (new) microservices (plain Python or Flask)
- Doing data science stuff
- Reviewing merge requests
- Refactoring and writings tests
- CI config

Your profile
Ideally you’d have a skillset like this:
Experience with Python/Django (we try to follow PEP8)
Knowledge of common design patterns
This would make you stand out: you have experience with projects running on AWS (e.g. S3 implementation or Rekognition usage)

Not knowing Django when you have experience with Python
Only feeling fit for some of the activities we mention
